IATE Real-time Terminology

Trados InSource!

Trados InSource! is for the professional version of Studio only, because it uses the project automation api. The basic functionality is the automatic creation of Studio projects, based on translatable files being dropped into watch folders that are defined by you.You can have as many watch folders as you like and these can be local on your computer, or in Dropbox, Google Drive or any other location you wish to use.Each watch folder has its own project template, so you have good flexibility in being able to automate the project creation process for different clients/domains.

Trados Jobs

This plugin provides a new Studio view from where you can search and navigate jobs posted on the <a href="https://www.proz.com/translation-jobs/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Proz -jobs</a> website.You can filter on source AND target languages as well as different job types such as translation, interpreting or potential. Besides filtering the results, you can also search on various terms across different ProZ fields.The first 50 jobs will be returned and you can then navigate using the next and previous buttons.Once you find the job you're interested in you click on the link from Studio and you'll be taken to the relevant website to find more details and see how to apply.Once installed, restart Trados Studio and you will find Jobs as a new view which you can select on the bottom left-hand side of the interface.

Trados Number Verifier

The problemWhile the standard number verification in Trados Studio may often be sufficient there are some occasions when a bit more control would be preferable, for example when translating documents that contain lots of numbers, especially when they are non-standard. The solutionThe Number Verifier plug-in allows you to fine-tune settings to provide you with the desired balance between amount of false positives and potentially missed errors.Once installed, restart Trados Studio and you will find the settings for the Trados Number Verifier in the Options menu under 'Verification'.

projectTermExtract

This projectTermExtract plugin adds a very neat feature to Studio allowing you to extract term candidates from your Project, or specific files within a project. The plugin works by adding a file containing the terms to Studio for translation, and then converts the file to a termbase and adds it to your project. The plugin also provides for some simple refining of the extraction using a very simple and visual interface that makes the process of term extraction incredibly simple, and enjoyable to work with. If you want to use these terms in your own termbase then this can be easily achieved by using the Glossary Converter, or alternatively you can provide the termbase as a MultiTerm termbase or in another format as a nice value add solution for your customer. Rapid Add Term

The ProblemAdding a new term to your termbase when working in Trados Studio, particularly if you have a large termbase, can be less than performant. Even using the "Quick Add Term" feature will cause the Term Preview window to open up and the entire termbase to refresh. This can be frustrating when all you wish to do is quickly work through a document adding new terms as you go. The SolutionThe "Rapid Add Term" plugin provides a solution to this problem by simply adding the new terms to your termbase so they are available for term recognition immediately without having to open or refresh the term preview window. Record Source TU

SDL Trados 2007 used to have a feature that stamped the name of the file you were translating on the Translation Unit in your Translation Memory. This feature was not implemented in any of the Studio versions to date. So this plugin for SDL Trados Studio 2015 brings this back and adds some interesting options. You can decide whether you want to stamp your Translation Units with: - The filename you are working on- The filename plus it’s full path- The Project name You can add any of these, or all of them, so they are automatically recording what you worked on when you translated your projects.This gives you the ability to filter on these for translating work in the future and for carrying out batch editing tasks to remove unwanted translations from your translation memory, or export an extract to provide to a colleague or a client. The plugin works as a Translation Memory provider, so you just choose RecordSourceTU when you add a Translation Memory to your project.You’ll be asked to select whether you want a new field created, or if you wish to append this information to an existing one, and you’re good to go.As always it’s a good idea to back up your Translation Memories before you start so if you decide you don’t like to work this way it’s easy to go back. Reports Viewer Plus

The Problem The built-in "Reports" view in Studio is useful because it provides the ability to read the various Studio reports available and print or share them with others. But it does have some limitations:<ul><li>it can take a while to render each report when you click on it</li><li>there is no possibility to customise the existing reports</li><li>there is no possibility to introduce reports in other formats, possibly an analysis from another tool for example</li></ul> The Solution The "Reports Viewer Plus" application creates a new View in Studio that mirrors the reports in the "Reports" view. This new view comes with several advantages:<ul><li>click on a report and it's rendered instantly</li><li>you can edit the name of the Studio reports so they are easier to manage when you start to get a lot of reports in the list</li><li>you can import an XML analysis file of some sort, along with an appropriate stylesheet, and attach it to your project</li><li>you can define different stylesheets to be used for each type of Studio report and/or language so that they are automatically used in this view when you create a new project</li></ul>All in all, this is a great solution for anyone who would like to have more control over the type of reports that are created and who wants to be able to use them more often now that they display instantaneously. Trados Batch Anonymizer
