SDLXLIFF Converter for MS Office

This application provides the user with the ability to create DOCX or XLSX documents containing the source and the target text from a fully populated SDLXLIFF. It is NOT possible to import the XLSX back into Trados Studio so the XLSX is an export only feature, but you can open the DOCX in Microsoft Word to review/edit the exported document and then import any changes back to the original SDLXLIFF file. This app is installed alongside the product with Studio 2014, 2015 and 2017. You can find it in the navigation pane in 2014, 2015 and 2017. The version here is for use with Studio 2019/2021 because it is no longer installed with Studio. It's also worth noting that Trados Studio has an Export for External Review feature as part of the product which provides the same functionality as this application. There is also an "<a href="https://appstore.sdl.com/language/app/export-to-excel/532/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Export to Excel</a>" plugin which is a more useful tool if you just want to export to XLSX.

SDLXLIFF Compare

SDLXLIFF Compare is a compact and fast tool used for comparing SDLXLIFF files, or complete Projects, and then display the comparison results in an XML/HTML report. The comparison report is formatted in a way that simplifies the understanding of what changes were made from one version of the file to the other, whether it is textual content or segment status modifications. This tool can be especially useful for the management of a project, to understand the amount and what type of changes were made during a translation and/or revision phase. It uses the Trados Studio API to iterate through and recover all segment pairs from the SDL XLIFF files. SDLTmFindVars

Current version is 1.0.5 Find the variables in your TM from what you have left untranslated in it. SDLTmFindVars is a utility that reads translation units from a given Trados Studio translation memory (TM) file and by comparing the items found in the Source and Target segments identifies potential Variables. That is, it searches for non-translatable text. Variables are usually company names, product names, trademarks, tokens or any word or phrase that it is left untranslated within each TM. The program writes the potential Variables in a TXT file for checking and further processing before the variables are added by the user in a Studio TM. It can also output the frequency of appearance in the output log and if needed, it can provide details for each Variable found in a CSV file. The user can also choose how the program performs the search and what is outputted through a number of options. Trados Studio considers Variables as replaceable parts of text with no real language meaning (such as the numbers or tags). Therefore it automatically enters them in the suggested target text allowing for increase of the matches provided by the TM and makes them accessible through the quick insert function to the users. SDLTmFindVars does not require a version of Trados Studio to be installed on the PC to function. The free version supports TMs of up to 50,000 translation units and can be upgraded to the unlimited version at a cost of 35 Euro. Once installed, you will now find SDLTmFindVars in your programs (All Programs-> TMServe-> SDLTmFindVars). It will then open up as a stand alone app outside of Trados Studio.

SDLTmConvert

SDLTM Repair

SDLTM Repair has been designed to fix specific errors within SDLTM files.If you find that you can’t open, export or do anything with an SDLTM, then this app may be able to repair it. This app will export the entire contents of an SDLTM in SQL, and re-import it, re-indexing as it goes and fixing any corruption.Success is not guaranteed every time, but if you have an SDLTM that you cannot open, then it is worth running it through this app. Once installed, you will now find SDLTM Repair within Studio on the Add-Ins Tab.

SDLTM Import Plus

Reports Viewer Plus

The Problem The built-in "Reports" view in Studio is useful because it provides the ability to read the various Studio reports available and print or share them with others. But it does have some limitations:<ul><li>it can take a while to render each report when you click on it</li><li>there is no possibility to customise the existing reports</li><li>there is no possibility to introduce reports in other formats, possibly an analysis from another tool for example</li></ul> The Solution The "Reports Viewer Plus" application creates a new View in Studio that mirrors the reports in the "Reports" view. With this plug-in, you can, for example, enter a word or phrase that does not need to be translated, such as a model number or serial number, by selecting the regex-matched suggestion from AutoSuggest. Once installed, restart Trados Studio and go to the Editor view. In the 'View' tab of the ribbon, there will now be a Regex Match AutoSuggest Provider button.

Record Source TU

SDL Trados 2007 used to have a feature that stamped the name of the file you were translating on the Translation Unit in your Translation Memory. This feature was not implemented in any of the Studio versions to date. So this plugin for SDL Trados Studio 2015 brings this back and adds some interesting options. You can decide whether you want to stamp your Translation Units with: - The filename you are working on - The filename plus it’s full path - The Project name You can add any of these, or all of them, so they are automatically recording what you worked on when you translated your projects. This gives you the ability to filter on these for translating work in the future and for carrying out batch editing tasks to remove unwanted translations from your translation memory, or export an extract to provide to a colleague or a client. The plugin works as a Translation Memory provider, so you just choose RecordSourceTU when you add a Translation Memory to your project. You’ll be asked to select whether you want a new field created, or if you wish to append this information to an existing one, and you’re good to go. As always it’s a good idea to back up your Translation Memories before you start so if you decide you don’t like to work this way it’s easy to go back. Once installed, you can now start using Record Source TU by selecting it as a translation memory provider when you translate a new document or in the project settings. Warning: The application will not record any information if there is no change made to an existing TU. Rapid Add Term

The Problem Adding a new term to your termbase when working in Trados Studio, particularly if you have a large termbase, can be less than performant. Even using the "Quick Add Term" feature will cause the Term Preview window to open up and the entire termbase to refresh. This can be frustrating when all you wish to do is quickly work through a document adding new terms as you go. The Solution The "Rapid Add Term" plugin provides a solution to this problem by simply adding the new terms to your termbase so they are available for term recognition immediately without having to open or refresh the term preview window. Points to note - terms will not be visible in the term preview window unless you refresh it first - if "Lookahead" is enabled you will still have the problem of new terms not being available to you until you refresh the lookahead cache - this is a "no-questions asked" operation apart from duplicate checking - if you have duplicates and still want to add the term you need to add it with the Quick Add Term or Add Term features in Studio.
