SDLTmFindVars

<strong>Current version is 1.0.5</strong><br /><br /> Find the variables in your TM from what you have left untranslated in it. SDLTmFindVars is a utility that reads translation units from a given Trados Studio translation memory (TM) file and by comparing the items found in the Source and Target segments identifies potential Variables. That is, it searches for non-translatable text. Variables are usually company names, product names, trademarks, tokens or any word or phrase that it is left untranslated within each TM. The program writes the potential Variables in a TXT file for checking and further processing before the variables are added by the user in a Studio TM. <br /><br />It can also output the frequency of appearance in the output log and if needed, it can provide details for each Variable found in a CSV file. <br /><br />The user can also choose how the program performs the search and what is outputted through a number of options. <br /><br />Trados Studio considers Variables as replaceable parts of text with no real language meaning (such as the numbers or tags). Therefore it automatically enters them in the suggested target text allowing for increase of the matches provided by the TM and makes them accessible through the quick insert function to the users. <br /><br />SDLTmFindVars does not require a version of Trados Studio to be installed on the PC to function. The free version supports TMs of up to 50,000 translation units and can be upgraded to the unlimited version at a cost of 35 Euro. <br /><br />Once installed, you will now find SDLTmFindVars in your programs (All Programs-> TMServe-> SDLTmFindVars). It will then open up as a stand alone app outside of Trados Studio.

SDLXLIFF Compare

<p>SDLXLIFF Compare is a compact and fast tool used for comparing SDLXLIFF files, or complete Projects, and then display the comparison results in an XML/HTML report.</p><p> The comparison report is formatted in a way that simplifies the understanding of what changes were made from one version of the file to the other, whether it is textual content or segment status modifications.</p><p> This tool can be especially useful for the management of a project, to understand the amount and what type of changes were made during a translation and/or revision phase.</p><p> It uses the Trados Studio API to iterate through and recover all segment pairs from the SDL XLIFF files.</p>

SDLXLIFF Converter for MS Office

It is <strong>NOT</strong> possible to import the XLSX back into Trados Studio so the XLSX is an export only feature, but you can open the DOCX in Microsoft Word to review/edit the exported document and then import any changes back to the original SDLXLIFF file.</p> <p>This app is installed alongside the product with Studio 2014, 2015 and 2017. You can find it in the navigation pane in 2014, 2015 and 2017. SDLXliff2Tmx

<strong>Current version is 1.1.3</strong><br /><br /> Exports SDLXLIFF files to a TMX and optionally a Text file. SDLXliff2Tmx reads a number of Trados Studio Bilingual Files (*.sdlxliff) and creates a TMX Translation Memory (*.tmx) from the translated strings they contain. The user can select strings to be excluded, based on their status, being locked or having identical source and target segments and can optionally remove formatting information (tags). In addition the user can also save the exported strings in a tab delimited text file. Once installed, you can find SDLXLIFF2Tmx in your programs (All Programs-> SDLXliff2Tmx) where you will then load a stand alone app to work with outside of Trados Studio. A help guide is also included.

SRT Filetype

<p><strong>This is no longer being maintained as its now built in Trados Studio</strong></p><p>SRT (SubRip file format) is a very commonly used format for subtitle files. Trados Studio 2019 and earlier do support the SRT format, but the out of the box version was not compatible with the <a href="https://appstore.rws.com/plugin/5/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Studio Subtitling plugin</a> available on the appstore. So if you wish to work with the subtitling plugin in 2019 you will need this app. It is not required when using the Trados Studio 2021 and above versions as they have been appropriately enhanced.</p>
