Trados Analyse

Trados Analyse

By Trados AppStore Team

About the app

Trados Analyse was the winning idea chosen by you in a competition to develop something Trados Studio users wanted the most. It was based on a simple premise, "get me an analysis as quickly as possible without having to use Studio at all!" It does this and more.

When you install the application it does two things:

1. It creates a new view in Studio for analysing files, and

2. It creates a standalone app that does the same thing without Studio running at all

- drag and drop files, or zip files, for analysis

- use Project Templates to quickly analyse files based on specific customer or domain resources

- optionally analyse without the need for a TM at all

- uses the standard Studio reporting formats

- offers a simplified CSV report format

- offers "copy to clipboard" to quickly paste the analysis into an email

- introduces options for reporting by line

Current Version

You can check hat you have the latest version installed here (for your version of Studio).

All updates to the plugin are recorded under the following ChangeLog entry.

Installation FAQs

Min Version Requirement: the application can only be installed successfully under SDL Trados Studio 2017 with a minimum of CU3.

The CU3 is a free update that is usually installed automatically through the automatic update. If you need to take this manually you can find the update here.

The application

Once downloaded and installed you will find SDL Analyse either within Studio,

or as a standalone application on your desktop.

The application itself is straightforward to use, just a simple drag and drop (or navigate to) the required files into the SDL Analyse View in Studio,

A few principles

The application itself can run as a standalone application that doesn't require Studio to be running, and it can also run within a new view inside Studio.

Standalone (showing the advanced view)

View in Studio (showing the simple view)

The basic idea is you drag and drop, or select, files (zip files can be used) into the interface and the application will return an analysis based on one of the following:

  • Advanced View
  • Translation Memories based on a Project Template or,
  • Translation Memories based on a combination of you adding your own and the Project Template
  • Simple View
  • Translation Memories added by you or,
  • No Translation Memory at all

The creation of a Project is never required.

The language direction used for the analysis is based on the Translation Memories used, and if you don't select any then the application will create one in the background based on the default languages you have set here:

The reports themselves are available in several formats:

  • html
  • xslx
  • xml
  • csv
  • clipboard

If for some reason, SDL Analyse is not running/installing correctly, there are a number of things to check-

1) Double check that you have the correct version installed (for the version of Studio you have installed- ensuring this is also updated to the latest SR/CU).

2) A potential issue, is left over registries from previous Studio installations.

If you have had previous Studio versions installed, which have now been removed and you no longer use, please check the registry and remove unwanted entries.

To do this-

Open your registry editor (Windows key +R) and then type regedit (you will need ADMIN rights to do this).

Now navigate to-

And delete the leftover registry entries.

Do NOT delete entries for Studio version(s) that you still have installed and are using- e.g.

Studio 16 = Studio 2021

Studio 15 = Studio 2019

Studio 5 = Studio 2017

(If for example, you see Studio 4 (relates to Studio 2015), you can safely (if you have already removed Studio 2015 from your machine) delete this entry and now restart your machine).

3) The latest release for Studio 2021- now includes 'logging'.

Logfiles, stores essential error data in the form of a .txt file that will normally tell us why there is an issue.

You will find these log files here-

C:\ProgramData\RWS Community\Trados Analyse or C:\ProgramData\RWS AppStore\Trados Analyse depending which version of Trados Studio you have installed

Copy the file to your desktop, before requesting help in the relevant Community forum

Please do not forget to attach the logfile, and telling us the exact Studio version (Help- About Studio)

and which version of Trados Analyse you have installed-

XLIFF Manager for Trados Studio

XLIFF Manager for Trados Studio

By Trados AppStore Team

The ProblemYou need to share files for translation or review and the people you are sharing with don't use Studio, they can't support SDLXLIFF, and they want to use a CAT tool. You also do so much of this you need to have a better way of managing the process. You want to be able to share one XLIFF on a multi-lingual project and have the translators complete the target language. The SolutionThe XLIFF Manager is the solution to this problem as it provides the following core features:- export your Studio projects as vanilla XLIFF 1.2 files- export your Studio projects as Google Polyglot XLIFF files- choose whether the target language should be set or not on export- choose whether you export all the segments in your files or not- import the translated XLIFF files back into Studio and update your Studio projects- map unsupported languages from your clients system in support of the import- generate reports of the changed work- be in control of the end to end process with a project management view in StudioPlanned Enhancements for the future updates- progress bars while waiting for the export/import. Useful for large projects- support for tracked changes in the import- add support for an XLIFF 2.1 export- add support for an SDLXLIFF export (to help with the management of an SDLXLIFF file workflow outside of a package)- we're open to suggestions in the RWS Community! To learn how to use this application, please please check the Documentation tab.
