Description
The Problem
If you work with Trados GroupShare 2017 and above and need to make use of the SDLXLIFF versions that are automatically saved on the server then your options are to work with the API and create a solution to get at them, or use Studio which supports downloading a single version at a time.
The Solution
The GroupShare Version Fetch application is a plugin to Studio which supports downloading as many versions for as many files in as many projects across as many organizations as you like.
A great tool for anyone using the versions to create comparison reports, for example. To learn how to use this application, please check the Documentation tab.
Technical details
4.0.1.0 - Trados Studio 2024
3.1.2.0 - Trados Studio (2022 (SR2), 2022 (SR1))
3.0.4.1 - Trados Studio 2022
Changelog:
- Corrected updated plugin manifest to ensure that the plugin will not attempt to install into Trados Studio 2022 SR1. This is important because the SR1 release contains breaking changes that will cause this version of the plugin to prevent Studio from starting. There will be a further update of this plugin specifically for the 2022 SR1 release either alongside, or shortly after SR1 is made publicly available.

Authentication options
When you click on GroupShare Version Fetch icon you'll be welcomed by the login screen in which you'll see at least two types of authentication:
- SDL Authentication - your SDL credentials must be usedWindows Authentication - your windows credentials must be used
And besides those two, depending on the configuration of the GS Server that you're accessing, you'll find other types of authentication like:
- Auth0Okta
which implement SSO (Single Sign-On), enabling you to use the same credentials for more than one service.
