Description

The Smart Review app for Trados Studio serves as an automated linguistic review companion, rating segments as green or red, depending on their level of quality. You can use this rating and the explanations provided to decide whether to assess segments in more detail. To generate an assessment of your translation, Smart Review uses the LLMs configured in your AI Essentials subscription, while at the same time considering the terminology available.

Introduction

The Smart Review app for Trados Studio serves as an automated linguistic review companion, rating segments as green or red, depending on their level of quality.

Segments evaluated by Smart Review carry a score represented by a colored, vertical line:

  • Green segments indicate high quality.
  • Red segments indicate low quality.

You can use this rating and the explanations provided to decide whether to assess segments in more detail.

To generate an assessment of your translation, Smart Review uses the LLMs configured in your AI Essentials subscription, while at the same time considering the terminology available.

  • A Trados cloud account with AI Essentials subscription.

 You can install the Smart Review app from:

  • Trados AppStore
  • From within Trados Studio via the Integrated AppStore

After installing the Smart Review app, you can select it in Trados Studio, from the Editor->View menu while editing or reviewing your translation. 

Authentication within Trados Studio 

To use the Smart Review app, you need to be connected to a Trados cloud account with an AI Essentials subscription.

The AI Essentials package uses AWS Bedrock as default LLM. 

Upon request, and at an additional cost, you can also add another LLM of your choice (like Azure OpenAI) to perform evaluations.

Configure the LLM Provider

The AI Essentials package, required for Smart Review, now allows users to configure LLM providers from the Connected AI section and integrate them into the translation engines of cloud projects.

  • Multiple LLM providers can be active, but only one can be set as the default.
  • The default LLM provider is Bedrock, but it can be changed to another provider.
  • Active LLM providers can be added to the translation engines used for cloud projects.
  • The default LLM provider is used by the Smart Review plugin in local Trados Studio projects.

Smart Review for Trados Studio Local Projects
To use Smart Review in Trados Studio local projects, a default LLM is required. The AI Essentials package includes Bedrock as the default LLM provider, but it can be changed to another provider.

Smart Review for Trados Studio Cloud Projects
Smart Review in Trados Studio for cloud projects will use the LLM configured inside the Translation Engine for each language pair.
If no LLM provider is specified for a language pair inside the Translation Engine, Smart Review cannot evaluate segments in cloud projects.

The AI Essentials package is compatible with Trados EnterpriseTrados Accelerate, and Trados Team.

Data Transmission

Smart Review will transmit the source and target segments, including the prompt data, between Trados Studio and the Trados backend systems for statistics. RWS may use this data to further improve the algorithm.
