Glossary Converter

By Gerhard Kordmann

Glossary Converter allows to convert between MultiTerm Termbases and other terminology formats. It supports sdltb, xdt+xml (MultiTerm Export) , xls, xlsx, csv, txt, utx, glo, bgl (read only) and tmx (V2 and V3).

It aims to preserve all information, but it does not guarantee lossless roundtrips between different file formats. For example history fields are only supported in sdltb, spreadsheets and tmx, and some features of sdltb termbases, like marking fields as mandatory, are not supported.

Once installed, you will find Glossary Converter as a desktop shortcut. It will then open up as a stand alone app outside of Trados Studio.

Note: This application is no longer maintained or supported. GroupShare PowerShell Toolkit may offer an alternative ways of working.

The Problem

If you work with Trados GroupShare 2017 and above and need to make use of the SDLXLIFF versions that are automatically saved on the server then your options are to work with the API and create a solution to get at them, or use Studio which supports downloading a single version at a time.

The Solution

The GroupShare Version Fetch application is a plugin to Studio which supports downloading as many versions for as many files in as many projects across as many organizations as you like.

A great tool for anyone using the versions to create comparison reports, for example. To learn how to use this application, please check the Documentation tab.
