Introduction

Translation Provider plugins in Trados Studio only send the current segment to NMT or AI systems. The GenAI model or NMT system does not know the content of the entire document or anything about the previous and next segments. In this way, each sentence is translated in complete isolation from the others. The TransAIde plugin allows you to export the entire text from Trados Studio, then translate it in the selected GenAI model or NMT system, and finally import the consistent translation back into Trados Studio.

The TransAIde plugin is not a Translation Provider plugin. It allows you to export the entire source text from a document opened in the Trados Studio editor in text or JSON format and import the translation in text or JSON format into the document opened in the Trados Studio editor.

Export segments

Export Type:

• Source only (Text File): exports the source text in text format. Each segment is on a separate line in the text file.
• Target only (Text File): exports the translation text. Each segment is on a separate line in the text file.
• JSON file: exports the source text, translation, segment type and segment identification data. The JSON file also contains a space for comments. The file is intended to be updated by an AI model.

Import segments

Translation Import: Target Only (Text File): imports a text file with the translation. The lines in the text file must match the segments in Trados Studio. Target Only (Clipboard): imports the translation copied to the Windows clipboard. The lines in the text must match the segments in Trados Studio. JSON file: imports translations from the "target" field of a JSON file.

Export terms

Terms are exported from the local termbase in MultiTerm format. The local termbase must be the default termbase. If the default termbase is a termbase from Trados Cloud or Groupshare, a NullReferenceException error will appear, but you will be able to continue working. Support for online termbases will be added in future versions of the plugin.

Terms are exported divided into required and forbidden terms.

Features Available in the TransAIde View of the Plugin

The plugin also offers a View Part for working with JSON files, which can be enabled in the View menu in the Trados Studio Editor view.

In this view, you can select a JSON file containing the file updated in the AI model and work with each segment. After selecting the file, you need to attach it using the Attach File button/command. The view displays the source, translation and comment from the JSON file, as well as the difference between the translation in the current segment and the translation in the JSON file. This view can be used, for example, to translate fuzzy segments or to do review translations in an AI model. To apply the translation from the TransAide view to the current segment, click the Apply button.
