This plugin allows you to retrieve translations from your corporate approved secured Language Weaver Edge.

Increasing concerns over data privacy laws, regulatory compliance, and exposure of corporate intellectual property require machine translation inside the corporate network.

Because it can be deployed on-premises or private cloud, Language Weaver Edge offers a secure, client- managed MT service for enterprise users, mitigating the risks that users may inadvertently be exposing sensitive data to non-approved MT services.

Language Weaver Edge is available for both Studio 2017, Studio 2019, and Studio 2021 versions.

What Language Weaver Edge provider can do

Language Weaver Edge can:

Facilitate security and privacy control by implementing multi-user roles and preventing exposure of corporate assets to public MT (Machine Translation).
Ensure cost-effectiveness at scale. ETS translates large volumes of content quickly, when needed, without maintenance overhead.
Be used intuitively via its browser-based GUI. ETS also benefits from workflow integration and automation via REST API.
Accelerate information gathering and mining across multilingual content for: sentiment analysis, intellectual property research, information discovery, forensic analysis, market intelligence, contract analysis, e-mail surveillance." (description taken from the official LW Edge documentation)

How Language Weaver Edge provider works

! Important: When trying to connect using User authentication: "User name" and "Password", after writing both fields values, the user should press the Enter key in order to be able to connect to LW Edge server and to see the "Language Pair Mappings" tab (the flow was decided to work this way in order to avoid too many requests which were done to the LWEdge server when entering the credentials).

After the plugin was installed, it can be accessed in Studio from Project Settings -> Language Pairs-> Translation Memory and Automated Translation -> Click on Use button to expand the options:

A new window will appear where the user needs to insert the Host, Port, and SDL Credentials/API Key information.
Window can be closed using the "Cancel" button or "X" from the window.
The second tab "Language Pair Mappings" is available when the user connects to a Machine Translation Edge server of version 8.1 or higher.
Options to "Set as Default Host and Port" and "Save credentials" are available.
To save the settings, the user needs to press the "OK" button.

* If the "Set as Default Host and Port" and "Save credentials" are checked, the Host, Port and Credentials/Api Key information is saved when user clicks on "Ok" button. The configuration information is automatically populated in the following cases:

When the user uses "Settings" button to open provider's window.
When the user removes and adds back the provider.
When the user creates a new project and adds the LW Edge provider to it.

*The Language Pair Mappings tab will be shown only after the user enters the information from the General Tab (the information is important to load the available language pairs).

After all the settings are finished and LW Edge provider is added, the user can start the translation process.

Dictionary feature

The Dictionary feature allows user to select an available dictionary for its subscription and project's Language Pairs based on which the translation will be retrieved from the LW Edge Server. The LW Edge dictionary can be selected from the Language Pairs Mappings tab. -> See more details within the "Dictionary Support" section

The Dictionary feature allows user to select an available dictionary for its subscription and project's Language Pairs based on which the translation will be retrieved from the MT Edge Server. The MT Edge dictionary can be selected from the Language Pairs Mappings tab.

The Dictionary feature is available for Studio 2017 and Studio 2019 SDL Machine Translation Edge plugin.

When no dictionary is available on the MT Edge server for a specific Language Pair, then the "No dictionary" option is dispalyed within the SDL MT Edge Dictionaries drop down.

How Language Weaver Edge provider works

ProblemSometimes there is a need to be able to extract some segments from a file, or multiple files, and send them as a single file to others. Sometimes there is a need to open all the files in a virtual view and then save them as a single file to share with others. Sometimes you don't want to open the files at all, but you might want to split them or merge them to send to others.ResolutionThe solution to all of these requirements is studioViews. This application will not only allow you to export from the files view, filtered selections in the Editor view, or plain and simple segment selection, but it also allows you to import the translated file you exported back into your project and will update your files accordingly. The exported file is an SDLXLIFF and fully supports all the features of SDLXLIFF (segment statuses, match values, tracked changes etc.). This application is based on the current version of an open source project providing support for the translation of MS Publisher files (*.pub). The application can convert a PUB file into an easily handled XML file. Once translated it can convert the translated XML back to the PUB format. In addition to simply creating XML the application can also generate a PDF of the file in context and this can be included with the XML as a reference file in a Studio Package so the translator has a better idea of what they are translating. The zip file you download also contains a sample sdlftsettings file for this XML as well as instructions on how to use it. Full details of the application can be found in this blog article. Remember, this is an open source project so if you are a developer and you use the code you must credit the project, and if you make any interesting enhancements it would be good if you "paid them forward" and updated the project accordingly.
